The video installation Polls of vanity presents a series of seven candles of different colours and sizes burning against a white background. The appearance of the candles implies a political chart or poll with each candle standing in for a political party.
Since the video condenses the entire process of burning that lasted for six weeks into three minutes and ten seconds, it also plays on the ineluctable passing of time, ephemerality, and the transience of all individual, social, and political creations.
The remains of the burned down candles offer a singular poetic interpretation to a disconcerting political reality.
